Why Free Shipping Doesn’t Always Apply When Using Reward Vouchers
We love rewarding our Mates Rates members with exclusive vouchers and discounts, but sometimes it can be confusing how these offers interact with our free shipping threshold.
Here’s an example we get asked about often:
“I added a pair of pants worth $79.95 to my cart. I expected free shipping, but when I used my $10 reward voucher, the total dropped below $79 and now I have to pay for shipping. Why is this?”
How it works
Free shipping is available on orders over $79 (after discounts and vouchers are applied).
When you use a reward voucher, your order total decreases. If the discounted total falls below $79, it no longer qualifies for free shipping.
Example
Without voucher: $79.95 + free shipping.
With $10 voucher: $79.95 – $10 = $69.95, which is under the free shipping threshold, so shipping is added.
How to get the most out of your rewards
Top up your order: Add another item to bring your total back over $79 after the voucher is applied. You’ll save with your voucher and still get free shipping.
Save your voucher for a bigger order: If you know you’ll be buying more items soon, use your reward points on that purchase so you can enjoy both the discount and free shipping.
Why we do this
Our free shipping threshold helps us keep costs fair for all customers while still giving our Mates Rates members great savings through vouchers, discounts, and rewards.
We’re always looking for ways to give you the best value, and combining vouchers with free shipping is still possible if your order stays over the threshold.
